The Dodge Viper GTS-R, some consider it the new king of American sports cars. While others consider the Corvette the reigning king. People always compare these two cars together. Why do they do it is a mystery to me. When you look at the whole of things you will see that these cars are two completely different monsters. On is a $100,000+ car while the other is a $40,000 give or take a couple thousand. These two cars also are in different classes, one, the Viper, is a gas-guzzling, air polluting monster, while the other, the Corvette, is a car with a certain amount of finesse involved.
For those of you that feel the Viper and Corvette must be compared, here are my thoughts.
The Corvette's 0-60 time may be .6 seconds slower than the Viper GTS-R's and .5 seconds slower than that of the Viper GTS, and the top-end of the Corvette might be 13mph slower than the Viper GTS and GTS-R, but you have to admit, the Corvette has some high points of it's own.
One thing is that the Corvette's seat isn't at a diagonal like the Vipers, and also a Corvette is more drivable around the city than a Viper. The Corvette is over $60,000 cheaper than a Viper (you could buy a Porsche for that money, but that's a different story), and the Corvette doesn't have a huge gas-guzzler tax. In addition the Corvette doesn't use gas like it's going out of style. A Viper may be more of a head turner than a Corvette, it may look better, but the Corvette has a better drag co. showing better design.
Don't get me wrong, the Viper is no slouch. The Viper is faster in every way, and no matter how you look at it, it is much more of a race car, but in my opinion it is not as practical. The Viper wastes too much gas in the city, if you care is up to you.
