My Resume

I live in Rio de Janeiro and I have 16 years of experience as an English-Brazilian Portuguese translator. I work mostly with the following subjects:
  • Business and commercial translations;

  • Technical translations and tender proposals

  • ERP, CRM, SCM, B2B Portals

  • Hardware/software and telecom translations

  • eLearning and Codes of Conduct

  • Terminology and glossary development

  • Software localization project management, and translation memory tools such as Star Transit, SDLX, Deja Vu and Trados.

I greatly value text quality and I have a college degree in Journalism, where I learned writing skills. I also have a Master degree in Translation Studies, a graduate course in Economics, and an Executive MBA.

I began my career as a business translator in 1993, translating business plans, financial statements,
training materials, contracts, presentations, marketing collaterals, house organs, and proposals for competitive biddings.

In 1995, I began a parallel career as
software localization project manager. My specialty was managing large projects with short turnarounds, leading virtual workgroups on-line and organizing teams spread across different geographic areas or different countries. The highlights were five releases of SAP R/3 on-line help. Other highlights were software projects for Microsoft, Novell, Corel and Lotus, and video subtitling for Hallmark Entertainment Network.

As a technical/
software translator, I developed style guides for the company and also for specific clients. Besides the ones mentioned above, I also have experience with glossary, style and procedures of clients such as Integrity Interactive, SAP AG, Siebel, Computer Associates, Oracle, IBM, Microsoft, Unisys, Hewlett-Packard, Kodak, Websense, KPMG, Andersen Consulting, Kleinwort Benson, Shell, IBM and UBS AG.
