Steve Jay!

Steve Jay has been the bass player for "Weird Al" Yankovic since the first album. He has also played ethnic percussion, banjo and sung backup vocals. Steve is also proficient in the keyboards, oboe, and flute. But there's much more to this gentle giant. Besides playing for Al, Steve has also released quite a few solo projects, has recorded African music, and written scores for TV and film. He records under the name Stephen Jay for his solo projects.

Steve's Statistics:

Steve auditioned for "Weird Al" Yankovic's band after answering an ad in the newspaper. Steve was heads above everyone else and we're grateful he is!
Steve's first project with Al was the self titled "Weird Al" Yankovic album.
Steve has a Masters Degree in Music Composition from The University of South Florida
Steve won two Grammy's and has 17 gold and 9 platinum albums for his work with "Weird Al" Yankovic.
Steve has won three George Foster Peabody awards and written music for over 75 PBS specials.
Before playing with "Weird Al" Yankovic, Steve was in a few bands with Jim West, Al's current guitar player.
Steve's first live performance with Al was at Hop Singh's in Marina Del Rey, CA, on March 31, 1982.
Steve plays the part of the bad biker who rips the head of his girlfriend off in the "Eat It" video.
Steve chipped a tooth while filming the "You Don't Love Me Anymore" video.
