"Hugh Ross always offers stimulating perspective on both God and science. And this latest book will certainly encourage you to think-whether you're a Christ-follower, a spiritual seeker, or even a skeptic."

HOW CAN IT BE?

  • How can my choices be totally 'free" if God is in control of all things at all times and knows the end from the beginning?
  • How can God hear my words and thoughts while listening to billions of others around the world at exactly the same moment?
  • How can God be forever alive and still suffer death (in the person of Christ) on the cross?
  • How can God be all-powerful and all-loving and yet allow so much suffering and evil?
  • How can we anticipate the new creation's magnificance knowing the horrors of hell are just as real?
  • How can God be both three and one?

These are complex paradoxes with far-reaching implications that have troubled people for centuries, testing the faith of those who believe in the biblical, personal God, and proving a stumbling block to those who do not.

But phenomena that seem impossible in the four-dimensional world we know (the three dimensions of space, plus the dimension of time) can become comprehensible when examined in the context of extra dimensions. Recent scientific discoveries have established that the equivalent of at least eleven dimensions exist. What are the implications of a personal God who can operate in and beyond such a realm?

The Bible is unique among the sacred writings of the world’s great religions, describing God as existing beyond the reaches of time and space as we know them. In this ground-breaking book, Dr. Hugh Ross examines scientific evidence that confirms the Bible's declaration about God’s role in creation and may help explain some of the great paradoxes of the Christian faith.

Drawing on biblical teaching and scientific evidence that supports it, Dr. Ross invites us to know and experience God in a way we have never done before. As a result, our love and appreciation of Him will be dramatically deepened, and the way we relate to Him and to other—both believers and nonbelievers—will be changed forever.

"A pioneering study that challenges the reader to consider the extra-dimensionality of God. With reasoned imagination based on recent scientific research, Dr. Ross leads us to a deeper understanding of the nature of God and of His creative work. Ross' thoroughly biblical solutions to difficult theological paradoxes are brilliant, coupled with thrilling suggestions concerning our future existence in the new heavens and the new earth."

"Beyond the Cosmos is a beautiful book that brings the reality of God more fully before our minds and helps is love Him with our whole being. We cannot love or believe a blank, but many pans of God’s revelation of Himself and His world remain little more than a blank until qualified and gifted teachers lead is to greater clarity. Hugh Ross does that, giving the most difficult ideas in Christian teachings gripping new relevance to the realities of time and eternity He vitally reaffirms the ancient formula that makes science the handmaiden of theology."

DALLAS WILLARD, professor of philosophy, University of Southern California

"Hugh Ross has written many good and mind-stretching things, but Beyond the Cosmos is the best yet. It is saturated with Scripture in such a way that many puzzling and vague statements of God’s Word will become much more vivid and real. I gained a great deal on the first reading, and want to go through it several more times."

BARL D. RADMACHER, M.A., Th.D., president emeritus and distinguished professor emeritus of systematic theology, Western Conservative Baptist Seminary

"Dr. Hugh Ross, scientist, teacher, evangelist, apologist, and now theologian, brings his knowledge of the principles of the origin of the universe to bear on how we think about our Christian faith. Those who work hard at following Ross' thesis will be richly rewarded in seeing the possibilities of fresh approaches to historic theological paradoxes."

JAMES E. BERNEY, general director, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship of Canada

"This book is something with which the keenest minds will wrestle, both Christian and secular. They will inevitably emerge with profound gratitude for the pioneering, edge-of-the-edge thinking that it displays on the frontiers of cosmology."

DR. RALPH WINTER, general director, U.S. Center for World Mission

-DR. PAUL A. CEDAR, president, Evangelical Free Church of America

"Dr. Hugh Ross is one of the most relevant, cutting-edge apologists of our time. In Beyond the Cosmos, he explores new horizons on the frontiers of science and theology. Wherever readers come out on all the details, this book is more than merely fascinating intellectually—it invites us to worship our awe-inspiring Creator."

CRAIG KEENER, Ph.D., professor of New Testament, Hood Theological Seminary; and author of The IVP Bible Background Commentary

"In Beyond the Cosmos, Dr. Ross has shown that the tools scientists have used to deal with paradoxes in the physical world can also be applied to gain important insight into various paradoxes in Scripture. Difficulties that have plagued the Christian community for centuries are not only clarified when 'seen' from the point of view of one living in a higher dimension, but those same difficulties also become the basis for strong proof of the supernatural inspiration of the Bible. This book will provide food for thought for any student of the Word and will, no doubt, begin a new area of biblical research to which others can contribute."

David Rogstad, Ph.D., physicist, Caltech Jet Propulsion Laboratory

"In Beyond the Cosmos, Dr. Hugh Ross considers application to theology of current scientific research suggesting that our universe may be more than four-dimensional. He suggest that we can use the general concept of extra-spatial and temporal dimensions to further our understanding of God of the nature of existence outside this universe. Beyond the Cosmos is a thought-provoking book, sure in inspire much discussion and contemplation."

Dr. Gerald B. Cleaver, postdoctoral researcher in elementary particle physics, Ohio State University

"Not since the decade before the first world war has a Christian thinker given so much attention to the dimensional distinctions and boundaries that have been opened up in scientific discover of a multi-dimensional universe, and reflected on what the demands of us in biblical and evangelical faith today Hugh Ross offers readers a fresh and illuminating approach to thinking about God and divine revelation in open-structured and extra-dimensional ways that will be a great help to many people today."
