12th August '07 - Halifax Tournament

The Tameside Mens Hockey Team went for the treble this year, travelling to West Yorkshire to defend their title at the '16th Halifax Hockey Tournament'.

Upon arrival on the friday, it was imperitive that the team got prepared and started training for the long weekend ahead. With this in mind, the 5 early arrivals (Jamie Wright, Adam Davies, Rob McCarthy, Andrew Wareham & Danny Renshaw) all made their way over to the playing pitches, which were conveniently located next to the club house and bar. The training began, all 5 decended upon the bar to order their drinks (Snake Bite 'n' Black). The training had begun. Within the next 2 hours, the other members had arrived to join in the strict training routine (Ian Fossati & Chris Boardman) The right and left arm exercises had started, with the players using pints of 'snake bite'. One unforseen side affect to this training was that the players vision, speech and stability were all affected. Being true athletes though, the players continued their training into the early hours of Saturday morning, battling through the 'now obvious' side affects.

Saturday morning came quick and fast, with most of the players only having a few hours sleep due to their strict regime. Stil feeling the side affects, the player got themselves together and proceeded to the local eateries to refill their energy supplies (mainly with sausage, eggs, fried bread and black pudding). Upon finishing this, the team was joing by the 8th team member for the weekend (Adam Battersby). The hockey would now begin.
