What Are Osuchi and Mesuchi?

Around fall 1996, Bandai Japan released a rare kind of Tamagotchi pair, the Mesuchi (female), and the Osuchi (Male) that could be linked and mated after they reached their adult stages by putting the tops of their "eggs" together. The mating process goes something like this:

Bandai Japan released Osuchi and Mesuchi in 6 complementary color pairs. There are:
-Pink and Blue
-White with Orange hearts and White with Green stars
-Yellow with Pastel colored hearts and White with Pastel hearts
-Clear Orange and Clear Green
-Clear White and Clear Black
-Metallic Pink and Metallic Blue (Rare Anniversary set)

I own an unmatching set. Here they are!
My Osuchi and Mesuchi! Owned since 2002.

What sets the Osuchi and Mesuchi apart

With each new set of babychi, your characters are different. This pet has 4 different generations. Each generation also gets different food, so that keeps the game a little more interesting.

Their game is a simple left/right game with black and white flags. It's the kind of easy game that lazy pet owners can play without even looking at the screen. XD If neglected for long enough, their hunger/happiness meters will drop to 0 and your Tama will appear to be "sulking" on screen. :( Give them some food and treats to make them happy again!

The osuchi and mesuchi eggs are also bigger than the earlier Tamagotchis. They are closer in size to the Tamagotchi Connections seen as of this writing (2009). No doubt that the Osu/Mesus were what set the standard for the Tamagotchi Connections, although they are much less sophisticated.
