Waiting for 13.00 flight to Toronto...

Heathrow coffee isn't Timmy's :-(

We managed to get a window seat so we could watch everything go by. he entire Atlantic was covered in cloud.

Flying towards the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador at about 36,000 feet, 4pm Atlantic time (GMT -4). There's plenty of sea ice!

Towards the top of the picture you can see the Newfoundland coast, just under the airplane wing. Its surrounded by ice. The left shows some unfrozen sea and yet more ice at the lower left.

While we waited in Toronto for the connecting flight we heard a couple of announcements. They show that Canada is pretty relaxed...

"The flight to Thunder Bay will be delayed due to the aircraft not having arrived yet..."

"Flight 7777 will depart shortly. We're just waiting for the rest of the crew to arrive..."

This is a view of Grand Bay harbour showing the bridge between East and West Saint John. Its about 8.15 am.

Breakfast at Timmy's then off to buy gloves at Market Square. It's -10 C today and there's quite a bit of ice around. Last night was -15 C, so this morning the window had a nice covering of ice on the inside where I'd opened part of the double glazing.

Dinner was going to be at the Copperhead Pub, which is part of the Hotel. The guy on the desk told us that it didn't serve food at the weekend and in any case woud have told us to go somewhere else instead! So we walked like penguins up the icy hill, across a couple of intersections which is great fun when you can't remember which way the traffic goes even before you've had a drink. Jetlag isn't much fun.

Breakfast is included! D'oh. Raisin Bran, waffles with syrup, fruit, danish pastry, coffee, orange juice, muffin. Well, its cold - we need to eat!

Last night was -25 C so this morning we needed to put the heater on. I tried opening the window but it had frozen shut. Its a good job we didn't have the nachos last night! Today will warm up to -7 C so the window should unstick itself.

The harbour is steaming in the morning sun. Clearly it must be getting warm... Maybe this explains the Bay of Fundy fog?

Met the realtor today and looked at an open house. It'd already had on offer on it so looks like we missed out on that one, but we did learn how to reverse at high speed out of a steep driveway mostly covered with ice, onto a highway and NOT crash.

The Kennebecasis river has frozen and people were driving their snowmobiles along it. Some were ice fishing, others skating and playing ice hockey.

Its 6pm and we're waiting for the pizza to arrive... The window has unstuck itself and so we can hear the church across the road playing "We three kings..." on its bells. We're not sure if many people will turn up as there's been a weather warning for 20cm of snow by morning. We've got a snowman kit (carrot, scarf and buttons) so there's no need to worry...

It turns out that the smallest pizza they do is a 12" so now were trying to eat 24"s of BBQ chicken and meat feast pizza. It could take a while...
