A long, long time ago, Syd Booth's was THE place to buy your records and tapes.  The only real competition was Woollies, and they were as rubbish then as they are now!

Syd Booth's Record Shop opened at Sutton in Ashfield in the early 70's in the Idlewells Precinct (No 26).  They sold a whole range of music from Pop to MOR (or
BOF music as it was also known) to classical.

All was fine until 1981, when two Essex Cowboys rode into town, took Syd Booth's over, and turned it  into 'Revolver Records'.  It was, as they say, the end of an era!!

If anyone has memories and
recollections they would like to share e-mail them to me and I will put them on this site.  Similarly if anybody has any Syd Booth memorabillia such as singles and carrier bags,or even photos,  please contact me.

Here are a few of my distant memories:

The bloke who came in to buy the single 'Sister Be Gone',
which turned out to be 'Since You've Been Gone' by Rainbow!

The customer who wanted the record 'B.I.N.G.O.' ('D.I.S.C.O.') by Ottowan.

And finally, the elderly chap who came into the shop on a cold December morning in 1980 and told us Jack Lemmon had been shot!
