About the KaRe^BeAr

Updated October 2003

Hm.. by clicking this link I'm assuming you wanna know a bit about the KaRe^BeAr! hehe! Well, I'm 24 years old and I'm from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I was born in Hong Kong and moved to Canada when I was two and a half :) ok ok.. so I'm technically a fob BUT at least I don't act like one! :P It's funny.. my parents had applied for citizenship to both Australia and Canada, and we got accepted into both countries. But they decided to move to Canada because it's more accepting to cultural minorities. I guess that's what I love most about Canada.. is that it's a cultural mosaic :) Hm.. imagine me as an Aussie :)

I've basically lived in the same house all my life. I havn't really moved. But, in 1998, I made a huge move.. I left the nest to attend school at the University of Waterloo, about a 1 hour and 15 minute drive west of Toronto. It was a huge adjustment for me because not only did I leave behind my family, I also left behind my closest friends (who all decided to stay in town for school! blah! hehe). I would have to say adjusting to university life has been extremely tough for me. I was so used to being surrounded by my friends during classes and lunches. At Waterloo, I found myself walking around the campus and eating lunch.. all by myself. This was extremely difficult to overcome. I was so not used to being all alone.. in such a big school. But as the terms went by, I made more friends and become more involved with the school. Attending the University of Waterloo has definetly been a life changing experience. I've met a lot of interesting people and had a chance to explore the world (my exchange to England). It has opened my eyes to new opportunites and I am truely thankful for that!

Perhaps the best thing I have ever done in my entire life was go on my exchange to the University of Leeds in Leeds, England. I spent 4 and a half months chillin' in Leeds (a 5 hour bus ride notrh of London). Ok.. I didn't spend the entire time up in Leeds :) I had a month off for Easter and I got to do what I thought I would never get the chance to do: Backpack around Europe. I hit Sweden, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. It was awesome! Living in a different country and travelling around Europe has made me catch the travelling bug! I have a new expensive hobby now :)

I just graduated with a Chemical Engineering degree (BASc) from Waterloo. I am just starting to do my MASc at McMaster Univeristy. I'm a little scared about doing this because I keep thinking I might not be smart enough.. but apparently (according to a friend) you don't need smarts to do a Masters degree (this person will remain nameless! haha)

Another thing about me is that I'm a Jetta fanatic. It's an "unhealthy obsession". I did in fact own a Jetta for a short period of time. It was a 96 VW Jetta but I had to sell it (it was causing me problems.. big time!). Ah.. that was the saddest day ever. But I will own a Jetta one day... a brand new Plantinum Grey Jetta! Fully loaded! I love Jettas!

When I was off in Waterloo and Leeds, the thing I absolutley missed the most was the family dog Pepper. He's a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He's so cute! My family got him in April 1998. It was a present for my sister, to keep her company because I was planning to move out for school. I absolutly love him!

Besides my parents, the two most influential people in my life are my best friends Rita and Jimmy. They understand and know me like no other. Rita is my bestfriend/cousin/godsister. Although when we were 'lil kids we weren't fond of each other, we grew very close in our teen years. She's been there through it all.. the boys, the "men", the smiles, the tears.. she's always been by my side. The other is Jimmy, my bestfriend/soulmate/love-of-my-life. He is the most understanding, caring, amazing guy I know. He has taught me that no matter how many times I fall, I can always get up and start all over again and the true meaning of forgiveness. He's also shown me that a broken heart can always be fixed. You both mean the world to me and I love you!!!

Well, that's a mouthful! better end it here before I tell my entire life story!! :)
