This is Louise's sister, Clara. We bought this
wagon this fall because we loved our W123 sedan so
much. This car rides smoother due to the hydraulic
leveling suspension system. My wife drives it 65
miles daily and more on the weekends. It's perfect
for hauling all of our stuff. Cosmetically, she's
not in as good condition as Louise, but she's
still in great shape. We plan on keeping Clara and
Louise together forever, but are hopeful to move
up to a new Mercedes wagon soon. By the way, she
looks great with a Christmas tree strapped to her
roof rack. All my wife's cutey-pie friends drive

This car, Louise, is my daily driver. I bought her
in 1996 with 120K miles on her and drove her over
100 miles per day for two years straight. I change
her oil every 3K miles and have the other
maintenance performed regularly. She runs great
and is perfect inside and out. I've done a few
minor repairs, but am still on the original engine
and transmission. I will keep Louise forever, but
hope to move up to a newer Mercedes diesel soon.
If you don't have one of these cars, get one. If

Having happlily driven a Japanese Diesel pickup for 15 years. I bought this car 2 years ago from a Mercedes mechanic. It had been taken in trade at the dealership he worked at with a blown tranny which he had just replaced with a good one from a salvage y
rd. Anyway, I drove this car for 45,000 miles until the engine blew last summer. I had a mechanic friend replace the engine with a unit from Aurora Auto Wrecking in Seattle. Unfortunately the previous owner of the car had let things go mechanically. You d
n't ever want to let these Diesel engines overheat as in a water pump going out or a radiator hose breaking. It will score the cylinders and severly shorten the life of the engine. I'm well pleased with the car despite the problems and its age. Its the be

Bought my 300D in 1998. I love this car as much as my old Toyota pickup.
Have replaced parts extensively with the intent of keeping the engine going for another 100,000 miles if possible. Steering had excessive play, so replaced steering rods; replaced air conditioning; brakes; pock-marked windshield; water pump. Acceleration
s nothing to speak of, but no surprise there. Getting 25 miles to the gallon.
Does anybody know of a way of reducing the amount of particulate matter that it spews out?

This is my third Benz and my second diesel. I bought it 15 months ago and 6 months ago had to replace the air conditioning. Went the whole road and using now R34a gas. The car is excellent on the highway, usually runs at the legal speed limit and gets 9l/
00km. Not so hot around town as it is a manual transmission, and acceleration is not the best. Still manage to be the first one when the traffic lights turn green though ...

This is probably the most kept model for its age.
We have plenty of w123 on the road until 00 and 01
when many owners will send their classics to the scrape yard.
We have a number of mechanics here in Singapore specialising in Merc.Used parts are still available and we forsee an overflux of parts next year when many cars will be scraped.
My unit is now facing a carb. "crisis" . My mechanic is looking out for a good used carb.
New carb. for '79 w123 is extinct here in Singapore.

I bought this car from my neighbor for five hundred bucks on, she blew the motor. The interior being perfect and exterior perfect save for one dent, and mild engine bay rust. I took it home and wanted the body but needed an engine, at 15 I could not fund
hat MB wanted in parts, so I took home another neighbors ford '88, 3.0 EFI V6, with 5 speed automatic overdrive. Machined a new mantifold, a small rebuild on the engine, joined the two driveshafts, machined new engine and tranny mounts, a lot of rewiring
nd I think I have one of the fastest(4 cylinder) W123s out there. With about 140 hp on tap and 33mpg, with a top of the line ride, for 18 I cannt beat it. New bilsteins, clear turn signals and a ton more custom made add-ons make this truely unique. Homema
e ground effects and trim also have been added. Not a word of English on the car, all original German. All thanks to my great Dad, thanks dad.

We purchased this stylish vehicle in July 1999 from an elderly couple who had owned it for 17 years.
We are the third owners and it is a local (Adelaide) car with a full service history.
It was purchased for fun and so we usually only drive it on weekends. It is wonderful to drive, especially with the sunroof open, but is rather thirsty on the fuel!!
The interior is parchment MBtex and the car is totally original down to the Becker "Mexico" radio.
We plan to keep this coupe for good!
