Here's our new Marine in a photo that was taken in late Summer 2000. Patrick joined the Delayed Entry Program (DEP) after he passed his physical and written tests with flying colors in July.

After graduating Parris Island Patrick came home for a ten-day leave. That was followed by ten days of Recruiting Assistance (RA)*. Then it was off to Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Geiger, North Carolina.

*RA occurs when the new Marine's Recruiting Station requests that he or she remain to help out with a variety of recruiting chores. This can be office work, visiting high schools, or simply travelling about the county in search of good quality candidates who are willing to talk with the recruiters.
