My Supra in its current state.
  • (PS. the wheels pictured were only available on the 1991-92 year models in the USA)
  • Power Modifications so far...
  • New K&N intake.
  • A Lexus AFM (with stock screw 3/4 out).
  • Venom 580cc injectors.
  • Pumping the fuel I have a Walbro fuel pump running at a constant 12v.
  • Aeromotive AFPR set to 35psi with vacuum.
  • The stock turbo (CT26)has been upgraded by PT in California, and is outfitted with a 60 trim wheel on the compressor side with a stock hotside., The motor is breathing through a custom JBLMK3 free flowing 3inch elbow, and a custom downpipe mated to a 3 inch high flow Cat(Test pipe in use now).
  • This is tailed off by an HKS 3 inch Cat-back exhaust which I customised in order to swap between the HKS muffler and a louder 5 inch tipped Brullen muffler (now in place).
  • On the control end, I have an HKS EVC EZ which allows me to adjust the "Boost" settings for the turbo.
  • HKS S-AFR fuel computer to fine tune the fuel.
  • For better cooling of the charged air created by the turbo, The car is fitted with the "Bhattan-Tejeda" intercooler system. This project outfitted the car with a truck intercooler (Isuzu NPR) which was matted to both the turbo and the throttle body via an elaborate JBE Racing hard pipe set up.
  • And finally releasing all the vent up pressure once the throttle is released is an HKS Super Sequential Blow off valve.
  • The power is transfered to the wheels through a built auto tranny, which has been treated to a new torque converter and some valvebody tweaking, along with cryo-treated gears and Borg-Warner clutches.

Suspension and Breaking System Modifications so far...
  • Tokico Illumina's II T.E.M.S. adjustable struts.
  • Tokico Springs
  • Suspension Techniques front and rear Anti Sway bars.
  • Trust Front Strut bar.
  • Brembo cross drilled and slotted rotors on all four corners.
  • New stock calipers with TRD steel-braided lines clamping down on Akebono pads.

    Performance and Dyno

    The Quest for Power...

On December 8, 2001 a group of us from S.O.G.I. met at Bullish Motor Racing for a Dyno session. That day, I was able to extract 243.4 horsepower (at the wheels) out of just under 9 psi of boost. Needless to say I was very happy with the result since it equates to about 304 horsepower at the crank. That is a 72 horsepower increase over stock (232 horsepower at about 6 psi of boost) from a 3 psi increase. That was done before I added the Lexus AFM and the rest of the fuel upgrades (580cc injectors, Walbro pump, AFPR and HKS S-AFR). That only made me optimistic and excited about the potential for power at my future mark of 15 psi of boost!...

A year and five days later on Dec. 14th 2002 (timestamp on the chart is incorrect), I returned to the dyno (this time at S.P.I. which is also in New jersey) only to realize my goal of 15psi of boost. This time it yielded and awesome 332.6 horspower at the wheels along with 334.2 ft/lbs of torque. Thats another 89.2 horsepower over the first run of 243.4! That equates to about 415 "Z06 Corvette eating" horsepower at the crank! Enough said! Fast forward to Summer 2004, and I managed to squeeze out another 14 rwhp, totaling 346 rwhp. This was done while battling some boost issues which I hope to address soon. The final plan is to get the car to comfortably push 450 rwhp which will keep the tranny well within its efficiency range. I'm hopeful that this will be realized in 2005.
