Suprakash Practicing Tabla with His Guru and Father Pt.Harmohan Khuntia
Follows the Farukhabad Gharana of Tabla playing. He has taken his initial training in Tabla from his father Pt. Harmohan Khuntia and under his able guidanceship he has qualified and stood First in the All India Radio Music Competition in 1993 and honored by the All India Radio with Gold Medal. Later he has taken advanced Training in Tabla from the Famous Guru Pt. Chhotelal Mishra of Banaras Gharana under the Fellowship Scheme of Orissa Sangeet Natak Academy in 1995 and presently taking training from Pt. Anindo Chatterjee. He is a regular performer of ALL INDIA RADIO, Cuttack Station and Doordarshan Bhubaneswar and also provided accompaniment on Tabla with a number of well known artists and participated many Music Conference through out India like Mumbai, Varanasi, Bhubaneswar, Bhopal, New Delhi etc. His accompaniment with his Sister Dr.Swarna Khuntia who herself is a good Violinist ,at Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Vasi was widely appreciated in 2002 for his good understanding of the music and aesthetical sense at a very young age.
At present locating in Banglore. Though a Software Engineer by profession still continuing with the first Love that is his Tabla and do give concerts and also teaches Tabla to young aspirants.
