KTM Competition Exhaust

My SXC came in and I eagerly installed it (thanks for the discount, Cliff's). It has a large volume to it, and it heavier than the Big Gun by far but still far lighter than the Supertrapp. To my surprise, it was very civil sounding too. At idle and mild revs its really quiet. Most any other aftermarket exhaust I've ever heard will drown this out. But when following the bike when the rider goes WOT, there's a nice bark that could startle the neighbors! Performance seemed to increase very slightly, only noticeable as I could pull up a 2nd gear wheelie a bit easier.

I figured with the new exhaust I should finally bite the bullet and open up the airbox a bit more. Using a sharp utility knife, I carefully carved the top of the airbox out almost to the edges. If I wanted to, I could "weld" it back on with a soldering iron. Really, the noise and power increase was barely perceivable. But to my surprise, when I did 4th gear roll-ons to rejet, I had shaved nearly a half-second off the 55-75 mph time of the Big Gun. I settled on a 155 main. I think a 152.5 made similar times, but it was a very warm day so I went on the fat side. Overall, the bike is fairly sharp off the throttle and I've managed 70 mph 3rd gear wheelies on backroad "jumps". There is still a problem with the pilot circuit, as I can kill the motor with a quick blip (it seems rich but the fuel screw is only out less than a turn now!)
