2002 Feb 07.42 UT: m1=7.6, Dia=3.4', DC=4...18cm f5 L (75x)...Graham Wolf (Lower Hutt, N.Z.)[ At 150x, m1=7.8, Dia=3.8', DC=3. On Feb 5 UT, (Charles Morris!!) reported a 1 deg tail from California... but no tail spine, let alone tail, seen from NZ at any stage thus far... even at high power (150x). In 6.2cm guidescope @ 28x, m1= 7.6, Dia= 3.0', DC=4. AAVSO Comparison stars] 
{Images I have received show a tail prior to my observation...I reported the tail prior to knowing about the images, however. I have seen the tail on several nights. csm}

Reasonably good dark sky conditions. Tail faint but visible, mainly hampered by relatively low altitude.]

In 11cm f13.6 Refractor @ 50x, m1=7.5, Dia=4.0', DC=4. AAVSO Comparison stars. Sky cleared in west, from overcast, for about 1/2 hour. I was lucky to make these observations... a few hours later, it rained heavily all night and all next day!]

In the 15cm Reflector f/7 at 50x, the coma has a large, faint outer halo, with a bright, highly condensed central region. At the centre of this is a stellar central condensation which I rated at m2=10,equal in magnitude to TYC5265 -282-1 close by in the field of view. Ion tail very thin and faint, traced to 6' in P.A. 080 degrees.]

Moderate light pollution and hazy condition. No tail visible under these conditions. Outer coma difficult to see as well, resulting in small diameter estimate.]
