You have to know that Martin, upon finding out that some one bootlegged his little piano session, is extremely livid. Perhaps he is so because as this recording demonstrates, Martin is not altogether sober, or even able-minded. What else can the sound of what seems to be a drunken stupor, by Martin, illustrate by just another drunk on the piano. Though he does manage well (“Enola Gay,” for example) there are times when Martin is obviously hammered (“Wonderwall”). And then there is the matter of the audience singing along. Now, fan participation is fine and swell, but when you have some Euro crooning out—horribly at that—into the recorder, then you have problems. Still, this is interesting to say the least in that people will be fascinated for years at how Martin could behave as such.
