Forging the Elite: The Officers Corps.
LINE, PROPULSION & SUPPLY CORPS OFFICERS:
They attend for 4 years the Escuela Naval Militar at Rio Santiago.
After that, they receive
commissions as Midshipmen(guardiamarina) and also a BS Degree on Naval Systems or
Business Administration. After the Libertad Sail Ship trip, they
continue their training, either as Marine Officers, Naval Officers,
Engineers or Accountants. They will have to attend different schools,
such as Naval Aviation, Submarine, Artillery, etc. Most Surface Warfare will be taken at the Escuela de Oficiales de la Armada (Officer's School) at Puerto Belgrano Naval Base (ESOA/BNPB). The Submarine Branch gives courses at the Mar del Plata naval Base and Naval Aviation has its Naval Aviation School at Punta Indio Naval Air Base (ESAN/BAPI). Marines also are trained in either Infantry, Artillery or Communications at Bater'ias Marina Base (BBAT).
PROFESSIONAL CORPS OFFICERS:
Lawyers, Engineers and Health-Care Professionals can join the Professional
Coprs. After training, they are commissioned as LT JG's (Teniente de Fragata) of their respective (legal, medical, etc) branches.
A QUEST FOR EXCELENCE:
In order to be a flag officer (Captain or Admiral) the Officers will have to get a master degree.
This could be obtained either through a civilian University or at
the Escuela de Guerra Naval (Naval War College)
