Brighton vs Horsham

Brighton 29 Horsham 5

A pleasing improvement in performance from the Brighton pack paved the way for a fine win over a strong and well fancied Horsham side. Fearghus Cleary had a particularly fine first half in the back row.

Brighton were able to score two tries in the first half through strong running by Will Dreger who showed speed strength and determination. Horsham had a fine kicking game as well as a good handling game and put Brighton under a lot of pressure during this period and some brave defending by the Horsham left winger was applauded by the touchline crowd.

In a hard fought second half honours might have been quite even but for some strong running by the Brighton fullback Carl Smith who scored a fine individual try which was converted by fly half Tom Kinsella, who managed to keep the Brighton three quarters fed with good attacking ball all game.

A couple of very strong runs by forwards Matt Bellenie (who scored) and Kurt Butler who laid on a try for Doug Albon (via Jesse Boyle) ensured maximum points for Brighton.

Horsham scored as a result of a period of sustained pressure which led to scrum half going over in the corner
