Here's a bunch of old friggin news:
EQUATION OF STATE IS BREAKING UP!!!! THE LAST SHOW IS SATURDAY, APRIL 3rd AT THE PAVILION!!!!!!
Most people probably figured this was coming...but now it's official. Thanks to everyone for their support over the last year and a half. We certainly accomplished more than we thought possible and met tons of cool people(and a few not so cool people). But from the ahses I guarentee many new bands will rise!!!! So stayed tuned for that and keep supporting the scene.
WE STILL HAVE A CD FOR SALE TOO!!! ONLY $5!!!

You should all go check out my new Halifax Hardcore Webpage. I update that page almost daily.

Still no news on a new drummer. We haven't really discussed it much though. The show on the 27th was a great sendoff for Jon I think. I'd say it was one of our better shows...but who knows.

  • Well folks....EOS's drummer Jonhutt has decided to leave the band. It's all on good terms and he'll be playing with us for the last time on the 27th. Come say bye to him! We'll miss ya Dr. Jon...good luck boy!
As for a replacement...we have a few people in mind but nothing definate as of yet. Stay tuned.
    OLD NEWS
Oct 14th Dammit! I'm writing this from Sydney 3 days after our show. The rest of the band is back in Halifax, but good old Ian has to stay behind to fix the van. I'm gonna be here a while I think. Right now some mechanic dude is try to put the rear end of a Camaro on our van. How cool is that? Not very.
Oh...I suppose I should have mentioned that our van is a piece of shit and broke down in the middle of nowhere. Fuckin hell! So there was this horrible metal grinding noise (similar to Existench..ha) followed by smoke coming in the van followed by driving into a ditch whilst trying to pull over. Luckily, someone stopped and drove me to Rita's tea room (yes...Rita MacNeil's tourist trap that smells funny) where I called a tow truck. At this point we were 3 hrs late for the show in Sydney. So I'll make this brief.....Mark Black and family saved us....picked us up, gave us their truck to drive to the show (with minimal gear) and we eventually got to play 2nd last (we were supposed play 2nd). However, because the show had to be over by 11pm thanks to those fuckin dickwad security guards, North of America only got to play 3 songs.
We just don't seem to have much luck with Cape Breton (a guitar got stolen last time) The ironic thing is that we went on that 3 week tour of the States and nothing this shitty happened, but oh well. We'll be back! We'll play again! I think we'll sell the van and get a new one. Anyone wanna buy a great van? Cheap! real cheap. OK..that's all for now. By from Ian and Mark Black. Someday you'll understand my tortured thoughts. Word.

Oct 8th Just a quick update here...we played a free show at Urban Sound Exchange on Tuesday. If you weren't there you really didn't miss much. It was very last minute. We only found out about a few hours before hand. This Sunday Oct11th we are playing at "gobblefest" in exciting Glace Bay, Cape Breton. I don't really know much else about it. Also, Punkfest 98 will be happening the 2nd week of Nov which we will be playing. Stay tuned for more info on that. Also I hope to do some major re-vamping of this page soon...I hope. I'm also working on a tour diary from our recent tour which may or may not be interesting. OK...that's all. Sign the guestbook...NOW!!

Well we are back from tour! Yay! It's a small miricle that our piece of shit van made it back. We did lose our brakes and blew a tire among other things. Most of the shows went really well. NYC and Ohio were the best and Chicago sucked. Unfortunately we play with few good bands (Devola from NY were an exception) We were supposed to play with Drop Dead and All Out War but they both cancelled. Oh well....more info when I have some time. BYe!

Wecome to our page. It fully realize it's kinda boring and there's nothing on it but after I get back from tour I'll make it better...maybe. Oh well...Anyway...Equation of State is an emotional hardcore band from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Our brand new CD is now out!!! It's probably gonna be $6 ppd. We sold 70 at the release show last night...by the way Braid and Discount were amazing! If you missed it, you are an idiot. Tomorrow we leave for tour so I don't know whether I can update this page for a while. When I get back I'll try to make this page more exciting. Wish us luck! I just know our van is gonna blow up or something. It'll be interesting to see how much money we lose. Oh well......See y'all in 3 weeks!

    EVEN OLDER NEWS

We ran into some problems with a printer who refused to print our booklet because they found it objectionable. What year is this again? Fuck those assholes (Kenmac Printing, 101 Simmonds Dr. Burnside) We are also planning a tour for September. Last week we bought a van!! It's painted black and it looks evil. After we fumigate it and fix it up, it should be pretty cool. We've been having lots of problems with it but it should be fixed soon...oh well.
