I'm one of those people who have a great passion
for fast cars. There's not really any one car
that I prefer, I usually can appreciate both the
power and the beauty of many cars. From super
cars to muscle cars, and luxury cars to fast cars.
I also am a bit of a magazine addict which fuels
the desire also. Finally, in August of 2001, I
decided to trade in my '92 Nissan Pulsar Ti. It
was a great car and I'm sure the person who bought
it will find it a great little car also.
I'd
looked at quite a few cars within my budget, starting
from S13 180's, to Subaru WRX's and Aussie delivered
200sx's. The 180 got the flick being a grey import,
and well, the rex wasn't really in the hunt. I'm
a Nissan man at heart for one, and I just couldn't
resist the allure of the sexy rear wheel drive
coupe. Other determining factors are that the
SR20DET responds well to modifications, it being
a traditional drivers car, and the ability to
"light em up" (brings out the hoon in
me). I didn't want a family sedan with the appearance
of a 20K Hyundai with 20K go fast bits.
The car was purchased from Metro Nissan in Brisbane.
That was an effort in itself. 3 hrs of negotiations
later, I had myself a new S15 200sx at a price
I couldn't refuse. I took delivery of the car
on September 4, 2001. From here, the car would
remain stock standard for almost 12 months, however
cruising in a standard 200 is not too quick. Only
quick enough to pull away from a stock 01 rex.
After cruising with the guys from the Brisbane
S13 club, I found out you could remove the restrictor
in the boost hose to the EBC solenoid. I replaced
this with a normal hose and found an extra 2 psi
of boost. Not bad for $4.
Unfortunately
I just couldn't stop just there...
