Cannibal
Buffet is a performance oriented industrial-dance band, located in Provo,
Utah. Armed with a repertoire of high energy original music, Cannibal Buffet
regularly performs for audiences in the greater Salt Lake area.
The
group is headed up by Flesche who's charismatic stage presence and twisted
sense of theatrics are the basis of Cannibal Buffets stage show. Flesche's
introspective lyrics are complimented by the music of percussionist Troy
O'Hanley, CB's programmer and drummer. Included in the Cannibal Buffet
lineup is visual artist and keyboardist Matt Marxtyyn, designer of
CB's multimedia performance which includes: original film, 35 mm slides,
and computer animation. CB's aggressive drive is supplemented by Chad X
on guitar. Chad's blues based technique has provided Cannibal Buffet with
the "human feel" often times missing in electronic and keyboard based music.
These things together have enabled CB to create a sound and style that
is both distinctive and unique yet approachable to it's rapidly growing
audience.
Cannibal
Buffet feels that the genre of "industrial" music has stagnated into the
domain of three track guitar rock and into the 120b.p.m. disco trap. As
a result, CB soaks up post-modern influences only to de-construct them
once again, forging Cannibal Buffet's sharp musical style and live performance
into a formidable weapon for an all out assault upon mediocrity.
Cannibal
Buffet's first show was on May 7th, 1996. Since then, they have played
with such acts as Hate Dept., The Vandals, Kevorkian Death Cycle, Mentallo
& the fixer, and Spahn Ranch, in hopes to expose their audience to
a broader musical experience.
