I would describe the Sunscape Tulum as having an atmosphere of "casual elegance". It is a nice size of just 238 rooms (although they are planning to add another block of rooms in the near future). It is one of the most relaxing resorts I have stayed at. The food and service are outstanding.
There are no fancy pools with fountains, waterslides, or swim up bar. Just one gorgeous lap-sized pool overlooking the beautiful ocean, perfect for swimming. Waiter service at the pool and beach. You can order lunch from a menu and they will serve it to you poolside (see menu under my section on restaurants). Live music by the pool/bar area. Very relaxing.
You are not required to wear a wristband at this resort (most all-inclusive resorts have this policy). There are no towel cards - you can take as many towels as you want. No reservations required for any of the restaurants, and you can eat at them as many times as you like. They also offer 24hr room service.
The beach is beautiful, but the sand is shallower and coarser than the beaches at Playacar. It is white, crushed coral and shells. There are a few rocky areas, but there is a nice sandy swimming area and the beach is wonderful for long walks in either direction (just bring your sandals or water shoes). Plenty of lounge chairs and palapas for shade.
