Hot and cold United
Hail and sleet set the stage for another comprehensive victory by the Strikers.
This week saw Christchurch United B fall by the wayside of a hot running
striking machine.
Good judgment by captain One Touch allowed the Strikers to utilise a less
than pleasant southerly squall in the first half. It wasn't all plane sailing
with the wind at their backs, however, as the Strikers were slightly taken aback
when United broke out and scored in the opening goal of the match. The ball
tended to run away a bit but leading striker Dexter Rag'm settled the Sunnyside
juggernaut with the equaliser. From then on Sunnyside was in full control
despite Westy's best efforts to shoulder barge them out of the match.
The conditions lightened a little in the second half allowing the Strikers to
capitalise on their three goal first half margin. Drag'm decided the warm bench
was a better option than numbing it out on the field allowing fellow striker
Girl's Farts to get amongst the scoring. Farts completed his second hat-trick of
the season and waved Dexter back on (much to his disgust).
Wind up of the week award goes to Trig as he did a great job of infuriating
Westy out of the match. The "deliberate hand ball" call set the fuse
alight and the pick-and-roll followed by the "you picked the wrong #$%! guy
to mess with buddy" call facilitated Westy's self combustion and a long
seat on the bench.
Fair play award goes to Bones for keeping his cool during Westy's final act
in the game, a good old fashioned ear rub to the player on the ground. Spare a
thought for poor old Westy though... life must have been hard growing up in the
trailer park.
