The Dux de Lux bring the Strikers' winning streak to an
abrupt end handing them out their first loss of the season. The
Strikers started strongly with Jesus scoring the an absolute scorcher early in
the first half. The ball rebounded off the Dux's defence to well outside the
goal where Jesus latched on to it and drilled it low and hard into the corner of
the goal... questionably the strike of the season. Fudge got amongst the the
first half play performing the characteristic juggle past the defence then
lobbing the ball into the middle for the ever waiting Ronny G to oblige with a
"one touch" into the goal. Last year's favorite player "ZZ Top"
managed to get amongst the action once again. It was déjà vu when he deliberately handed
the ball in midfield play. To the dismay of the Strikers he stayed on the
field and they were awarded a token free kick. A defensive lapse 10 minutes
before halftime saw the Dux attack make the Strikers' baseline and slip the ball
across the goal face. Once again Jesus obliged, this time getting good contact
into his own goal, leveling his personal tally at one a piece. The second half
was dominated by attack after attack from the Dux. It was just a matter of time
before the defence was breached. The hot weather finally took it's toll
and two goals were conceeded although it probably should have been a couple more
than that.
Quote of the day goes to Girl's Farts who summed up the game with "Fuck
we're unfit".
