Strikers well on their way to Chatham Cup berth

The Sunnyside Strikers C have made a perfect start in their bid to take out the 2001 Canterbury Sunday Soccer League 4th division title, crushing Avonhead D by 7 goals to 1. The win not only secures valuable Sunday League points but also helps to keep Ronny G's hopes alive for making the Chatham Cup.

Dirty old Norty Norts bang'n 1/3 of a dozen first up will probably get him banished back to the sweeper roll never to be seen over halfway again. One Touch got the first headed goal of the season and an absolute rocket from the top of the box. Don't be surprised to see him fighting for the top goal scorer prize once again. Drag'm chimed in with a blast which threatened the craftsmanship of the Avonhead onion sack builder. Tireless work from Johno and Groggy in the middle kept the game firmly in Sunnyside's hands. Dave and the boys at the back (when they were there) kept a tight ship with only the odd leak. Special mention to Avonheads strikers for only shooting the ball to Tackle's right all but once.
