Ronin Sumo Club
Located in the West End of Downtown Toronto, directly on the North West corner of Dupont St. and Lansdowne. The address is 1400 Dupont Street, Second floor.
About Us:
Having started in 2000, Ronin Sumo club is the first, and currently the only officially recognized Sumo Wrestling club in Canada. Our members practice, and enjoy tournament fighting. We fight in the North American Amateur Sumo Championships, World Amateur Sumo Championships, and any other amateur tournaments that might spring up. Last year at the 6th North American Amateur Sumo Championships in Toronto, Ronin sent 7 members for Team Canada, and 4 come back with medals. Elmer Gale and Thilo Kierdorf won Silver medals representing Team Canada in team competition. In the Womens Division, Elizabeth Santos won the Silver medal, and Aja Tsuji won the Bronze, representing Canada in the Lightweight catagory. This year the 7th North American Sumo Championships are being held in Vancouver, and the Ronin Team is currently training for this year's competition.

Elmer Gale, our Head Instructor has been practicing and competing in international ameatur Sumo competitions since 1994. Currently our club is the official training location for the Canadian National Sumo Team, so come out and Practice with Team Canada!
