BUNAKEN
ISLAND
The wildly varied shapes and colours of
the fringing coral off Pulau Bunaken have become an
international snorkeling and diving attraction. The 808
hectare island is of the 75,265 hectare Bunaken National
Marine Park, which include: Manado Tua ( old ), the dormant
volcano that can be seen from Manado, and climbed ( four hours
) following a path; Nain and Mantehage island; and Pulau
Siladen, which has a homestay. The National Park headquarter (
near the jetty at Pantai Liang ) is often closed, and not
interested in being a quasi - tourist office.
Bunaken Island is situated in North
- Sulawesi ( whit capital Manado ), around there are many
attractions that can be visited as day trips, places usually
be visited as; Bunaken ( Diving and Snorkeling ), Tomohon (
Volcano area ), Minahasa ( The Original Tribe ). Tomohon
can visiting some volcano, Gunung Lokon volcano (1580m
) contains a constantly simmering crater lake of varying hues,
which takes about three hours to reach from Tomohon. Before
climbing any volcano in the area, report to the vulcanology
centre in Tomohon, there are numerous other wonderful
places to explore from Tomohon. Danau Linow, a small,
highly sulphurous lake, which changes colours with the light,
