It's difficult being a first time writer.  There's a lot of information needed and lots of research required.  Here are a few sites that made things a little easier for me.

The AAR is the Association of Authors' Representatives.  This is a great site to check out if you are looking for agent representation.  It has a list of all registered agents and agencies.

This is a very creative site created by a man who is searching for an agent.  He lists all the agents he's contacted and his updated correspondence with each.  It gives you and idea what the agencies are like and if they ever bother to respond to query letters.
