Well, I am back.  I will post the most current information.

Desktop processors

AMD - Advanced Mico Devices

AMD has recently released their Pentium 4-killing Athlon T-Bird.  It runs at 1.4 GHz and has a hefty 266 MHz bus and 256 kb of L2 full speed cache.  The AMD athlon 1.4 GHz has been proven to beat the Pentium 4 1.7 GHz.  At the lower end of the spectrum, AMD has also released a 950 MHz Duron, AMD's answer to the celron.

Intel

Intel has recently brought out their 1.8 GHz Pentium 4.  It is still crippled from features.  Intel is bringing out a new Pentium 3, code name the Tutalin.  A 1.13 GHz P-iiiM (tutilan) can out perform a pentium 4 1.3 GHz.

Mobile processors

AMD is the new boy entering mobile computing with a bang.  They have released the next version of the AMD Athlon, called the Athlon 4, at a speed of 1 GHz on laptops.  It is also available at lower speeds.  They have also released mobile duron producs.
