1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS 350 CLONE
FINAL Page Update:  August 24, 2004 Due to me selling the car in May.
My new 1/4 mile time:  13.68 @ 106.3 mph (May 4, 1999)
The time I ran was right after I had gotten the car running.  I had not jetted the carb, nor had I messed with the timing (12 degrees advanced), and I did not heat the tires at all.
I had been looking for a 1969 Camaro to add to my stable but really wasn't having any luck.  My late brother-in-law knew of this car and told the owner I was interested in buying.  It was located in a barn, and at one time had been one of the fastest street raced cars in the tri-county area.  I have met the second owner of the car, who told me it was an original 307 car.  He put some period go fast parts on the 307 and raced it often but blew up the original motor.  He, and don't ask me why, rebuilt the 307 and raced it until he destroyed it again.  The next owner I have not met, but he did keep in touch with the second owner so I know a little about his ownership.  This guy wanted to race it mainly at the track and sometimes on the street.  He installed a 396 big block and it ran quite well for some time.  He sold it to the owner I purchased the car from on May 31, 1986.  This owner was an avid street racer and was dating at the time, too.  He had Racing Head Service build a 350 to spec and, as I said earlier, raced it often on the streets.  It apparently won many races before he married and parked the '69 in the proverbial barn.  I had asked the guy to sell it to me many times, but he always refused.  Finally, I offered him a price that he could not refuse.

The car was originally butternut yellow and was built the fourth week of February.  It is a X11 car and I will be making it into a SS 350 clone, but will always disclose it as a clone.

I would be remiss if I did not say a special thanks to my brother-in-law, Billy.  He and I spent many hours together getting the '69 to run again and repairing/replacing parts the RHS 350 destroyed; like the TH350...boy was the ground cold with freezing rain in January!!!  Billy never complained once while helping me.  Your family misses you and loves you...may God bless you.  June 8, 1969-March 15, 2003.
