American Greetings graciously gave us the sneak peek
at these great new and returning characters that we will
welcome to Strawberryland in 2005-2006!!

Lemon Meringue is BACK!!! With a new pet, Sourball the Skunk!!

Raspberry Torte is BACK!!! With Rhubarb the Racoon!
The decision to change Raspberry's name is due to the connotation of "Tart" in today's society, per AG.

Crepe Suzette is BACK with Eclair the poodle and a complete makeover for both including new colors!!!

Tea Blossom and Marza Panda are BACK!!!
Why the name was change? See below.

Frosty Puff is a new character that is from somewhere very cold and has her pet Freezer Pop Penguin!!!!

The Peculiar Purple Pieman and Sour Grapes will also be returning to Strawberryland!!
No images are available of them yet.

A berry big THANK YOU to Athena for the use of her great images of the new/returning characters!!!

The people at AG have been listening to all the wonderful feedback collectors
and fans have been giving them since the first Strawberry Convention in 2003
and decided to bring back our favorite foes
as well as the fantasy hair colors again!!

We had a wonderful time sharing Strawberryland with 4 families from
the Cleveland Area Ronald McDonald House (RMH) as well!!
Thank you to everyone for their generousity with the donations to RMH!!!

American Greetings has provided many of the answers
for the questions collectors had this past year at Convention 2005...

Please provide biographies for Lemon Meringue and Raspberry Torte.
Lemon Meringue
Lemon Meringue might grow up to be Strawberryland’s most acclaimed fashion model someday, but she will probably not be winning any international prizes related to rocket science. Lemon is always just a beat or two slower than the other girls in understanding what’s going on around her. When she does finally catch up with the obvious, she adds her trademark line “I knew that”. Her problem is that she is constantly working on looking just a bit better. She is always primping and preening, fixing her hair, or checking her look in any available reflective surface. She is a genius at looking good, and all the Strawberryland friends know that for a makeover or a new ‘do, the place to go is Lemon’s famous beauty shop on Lemon Lane. Though a bit “blonde”, she is also a sweeter-than-lemonade girl who has a heart of platinum.

Raspberry Torte
Raspberry Torte is into sport. This girl’s got game in any sport you can name and loves to compete. She’s always confident—sometimes to the point of cockiness. She has a sarcastic way of saying things, and she’s so sure of herself that sometimes she talks long before she thinks--and hurts someone’s feelings. But she’s not cruel and is quick as a sprint to apologize and ask for forgiveness, too. Her home at Raspberry Fields is a regular gym/spa, where the other girls often come to feel the burn and get into shape. She’s a good coach, too, and helps others. Her speech is spiced with sports phrases and “Just Do it “-style encouragement.

Will there be other boy characters?
While the door isn’t completely shut on introducing another boy or two, they usually don’t do that well as product (i.e. toys). If we do introduce a new boy character(s), it would likely be either in videos or books.

Will Apricot and Hopsalot come back?
It’s possible, but we’re not sure yet. Apple Dumplin’ hasn’t performed as well as needed to make the decision to introduce more baby/toddler characters an easy one.

Will there ever be an “intellectual” character and/or a character with glasses? (Like Plum Pudding)
We can’t make any promises, but that could happen. Plum’s “bookworm” role has been somewhat filled by the new Blueberry Muffin, whose house full of books and costumes gets the kids using their imaginations.

Why did they change Almond Tea's name to Tea Blossom?
It actually came down to it being a more attractive and politically correct name.

Is Crepes Suzette a remake of the original Suzette, or a grown-up version of Cherry Cuddler?
Crepes Suzette is a reworked Crepes Suzette. The cherry motif was picked because it introduced a different color palette.

What scent will Frosty Puff be?
The scent has not been completely decided yet, but we are leaning towards it being a fruit scent versus a candy scent.

Is there any news on more new International friends dolls? I know Crepes and Tea are coming out, and I inferred that Café Ole will be coming out when the Latino line launches, but what about Lem and Ada? Mint Tulip?
Café Ole will not be reintroduced. If we do a new Latina doll, it will be a brand new character. Also, no current plans to reintroduce Mint Tulip. However, we have not ruled out bringing back Lem and Ada.

How much of a chance is there that Lime, Butter Cookie, and Apricot will finally be remade? I’m guessing soon, because they are the only regular dolls left who haven't been remade, and a bear that looks to be Jelly Bear was on one of the new SSC baby blankets.
No immediate plans for Lime and Butter Cookie. We’ve not ruled out bringing back Apricot (see answer above.) Any resemblance of the bear in the baby blankets to Jelly Bear is purely coincidental.

What is the deal with Rainbow Sherbet’s toucan? The activity book we got calls him "Triple Ripple Toucan." The Target exclusive RS says her pet is "Triple Dip Toucan," and I swear I've heard "Triple Treat Toucan.".
Purely a mistake during the approval/proofing process. Correct name is Triple Ripple Toucan.
