Youth Group Activities...

1. Youth Community Night
1st and 3rd Sundays of the month at 6:30pm in the P. Center. These gatherings are open to everyone; all youth are welcome and can bring a friend. The evening includes prayer, social time, short meeting/opportunity to learn about and sign up for up coming activities, and refreshments. There will be a few times during the year when we will plan an activity as a part of the evening (i.e., bowling, snow tubing/boarding at Sleepy Hollow, miniature golf, and movies)

2. Friendship Groups
These are grade level groups that meet on the 2nd and 4th Weds of the month in either their adult leaders homes or the parish office. Groups meet to discuss topics/issues of interest to youth, share faith/prayer, and refreshments.

3. On-going Service Projects

A. Wheel-Chair Basket Ball
On the 1st Weds of each month, youth play wheel-chair Basket ball with the residents of the Children’s' Habilitation Home. No skill at basketball needed because you play in wheel chairs! Youth have a great time and get to know and care about the youth from the Home.

B. Soup Kitchen
On the 4th Thursday of the month, youth help to serve the supper meal at the Supper Club (soup kitchen). We also help with the Thanksgiving meal. This is a great opportunity to not only provide a service, but to spend time with the children who come to the soup kitchen, who are so much in need of time and attention.

C. Adopt A Family
Each year SPY (St Pius Youth) adopts a family either through the soup kitchen or another agency. This is an opportunity for youth to meet and see how their actions directly impact this family.

D. Annual Service Trip
Each year a group of St Pius Youth and leaders select a site, usually a site that has experienced a natural disaster like tornadoes or floods to help with disaster relief work of all kinds. This is a challenging and very rewarding experience and often has life-changing effects. This trip is scheduled for late June.

4. Retreat Experiences

A. Annual High School Retreat
This is an awesome experience that combines powerful witness talks, group discussion/activities, team skits, and social time, great music and much more! This retreat year after year is said by youth to be a life changing fantastic and FUN experience! The retreat is normally held on the 2nd weekend of March each yeat. Look for more info in the mail in Feb. or stop into the Youth Ministry office to sign up.

B. 7th & 8th Grade Retreats
HS youth look forward to helping to plan and lead these middle school retreats every year. This gives youth a chance to share their gifts with younger youth and "give back" as they say, what they have been given that has made such a difference in their lives. These retreats are held one in Fall and one in Spring.

5. Youth Masses/Music Ministry
Every month on the second Sunday, youth share their wonderful talent to help sing/play music, lector, greet, usher and distribute the Eucharist and Sunday Mass. Come join us anytime and help the parish celebrate YOUth and your gifts.
