Welcome to
The Church of the Holy Spirit in Burk's Falls

In 1905, Father Fleming purchased the former Presbyterian Church in Burk's Falls, adapted it for Catholic worship and dedicated it to the Most Holy Trinity.

In 1968 a new Church was built in Burk's Falls at the southern end of town across from Land of Lakes school.  Mass was first said at the newly renamed Church of the Holy Spirit on August 18, 1968.
In 1993, the women of The Church of the Holy Spirit changed from the Catholic Women's League to the Holy Spirit Women's Group.

They are available to all parishioners, for assistance in church celebrations, cleaning the church, and community religious celebrations and any other requirments that are needed to promote a stronger faith within the Holy Spirit Church and to be a visible member in the community.

The Knights of Columbus, Msgr H. Fitzgerald Council #9034 for Burk's Falls and Kearney was chartered in 1985.  In the early years they boasted 45 members and held meetings in the school beside the presbytery in Kearney.  To provide a central location for the members, some of whom travelled long distances from Magnetawan, Sundridge and beyond, the Knights of Columbus relocated to Burks Falls.

The Knights of Columbus are involved in a number of activities, some of which are fund-raisers such as the annual car draw, 50/50 draw and annual yard sale at Holy Spirit.  Some are social, like the pancake breakfast or the corn roast, and some reflect their commitment to the community as when they are picking up food for the Food Bank and delivering food baskets to needy people.  Some of the events are motivated by their interest in education and athletics like the basketball free throw tournament.  Yet the K of C are actively involved in the parish in a variety of ways, promoting and encouraging good christian living based on the precepts of the Roman Catholic Church and giving of their time when needed.

The proceeds of fund-raising activities are used for charitable purposes only.  They contribute financially to such worthy causes as the Food Bank, the Pro-Life Organization, needy children, Church facilities, Vocation Projects, health and service organizations, physically disabled, human needs, community projects, education, athletics, the Arthritis Society and other causes they judge to be worthy recipients based on the funds at their disposal.

Today, membership stands at 27 and there seems to be a growing interest as some men have made serious inquiries about joining.  The Knights of Columbus are always looking for new members;  the basic requirement being a practicing Catholic.  Meetings are held the 4th Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. following 7:00 p.m. Mass.
