Stotella is a Gnutella-based file sharing program
that operates solely on the St. Olaf College
computer network.
Download the latest version
here.
There is currently no Mac version, but we are working on one (slowly). If you can help us with that, send us an
email.
The Purpose of Stotella
-
To alleviate the strain (that is, save Internet
bandwidth) on the St. Olaf Academic computing
network by the duplicate downloads by members of
the St. Olaf community of non-copyrighted files
that other members of campus would benefit from by
avoiding long download times.
-
To provide a simple and effective manner for
students to access files from their computer to
fulfill the need of access that is not met by H
drive.
Stotella is:
-
NOT "Napster-like" - Stotella is capable
of handling any file type necessary to
facilitate sharing of non-copyrighted files.
-
NOT designed to "facilitate the transfer
of Illegal materials."
-
NOT controlled by any one person or
connected via one central server. It is a free
market for the open exchange of information.
-
NOT to be used for the purposes of
illegal Acts.
All users should be aware that:
-
Sharing or downloading files to which you do
not own the copyright is illegal. If you
think you may have downloaded something that
is copyrighted, but are not sure, delete the
file.
-
There is an inherent risk to downloading items
from the Web or any other kind of peer-to-peer
system.
-
We are not responsible for damages of
problems that you encounter. This
includes, but is not limited to, computer
damage, disruption of normal computer
operation, damage to computer software, loss
of business, computer virus attacks, personal
injury, or acts of God.
-
There is no warranty or guarantee of any type,
implied, or stated.
-
This program falls under the GPL.
Above all, USE RESPONSIBLY, AND AT YOUR OWN RISK! |
