The Homeless Boy

"The young boy sat under the huge oak tree, pulling his tattered blanket closer around his shivering body.
Lonely and hopeless, he closed his eyes and slept, but far from peacfully, as his dreams were full of sadness, despair and pain.

The little girl stood close by, watching him thoughtfully.
She held in her hand a juicy, red apple, which she polished on her skirt, before approaching the homeless boy.

He looked up, searching to see what had woken him.
His eyes fell upon a girl with tight brown curls, standing to his left.
Slowly and shyly, she held out an apple..."
