Fruit Candy Ingredients: 1 Apple 1 Pear 2 Carrots 1/3 Cup Maple Syrup Instructions: Cut the carrots, pear and apple into bite size piecec. Mix in bowl, feed pan or bucket. Mix in maple syrup. Spread in cake pan and put in refrigerator until firm. Take out cut into pieces and serve. |
Carrot Crispies Ingredients: 2 Carrots, shedded 1 Apple, chopped in small pieces 1/3 cup molasses 1/2 to 3/4 cup bran(one half to three quarters cup) Salty Crackers Instructions: Combine carrots, apple molasses and bran. Mix thorougly. Scoop a small ball on to a cracker and serve. Store leftovers in refrigerator. |
Orange Delight Ingredients: 1 Orange peeled(or if your horse doesn't like orange use an unpeeled apple) 3 large Carrots chopped into small sized carrot sticks 1/4 cup of molasses 1/4 cup of oats(plan Quaker oatmeal) Instructions: Cover the carrot sticks in molasses and roll them into oats. Then stick them into the orange or apple. Then put in the fridge for 30 minutes or until you are ready to serve. |
Tossed Fruit and Grain Ingredients: 1 Sliced Apple 1 cup of Molasses A few Carrots Your horses usual oats or sweet feed Instructions: Take the sliced apple and peel it carefully (might need adult help). Place the apples aside, and dip a few scoops of the horses oats or grain into a bucket. Pour the cup of molasses into the feed and mix it up. Then cut the carrots into slices and mix with the feed and molasses. Then slice the apple into smaller pieces and mix it with the molasses and feed. You can also add other healthy horse treats to the already mixed ingredients to make it just the way your horse likes it! |
Fruit Rolls Topped with Sugar Ingredients: Apples Carrots Molasses Oats or oatmeal White or Brown Sugar Instructions: Quarter apples, and split carrots in half. Fill a cake pan with molasses. Place the apples and carrots face down in molasses and then roll them into the oats. Put them face up onto a plate and let them sit awhile, then sprinkle them with white or brown sugar. |
Chilled Rolled Fruit Ingredients: Apples Carrots Molasses Oatmeal, Bran or Oats Apple cider Mix (powder) Instructions: Cut apples and carrots into bite size pieces. Cover with Molasses. Mix oatmeal and bran in a ziploc bag with the apple cider mix. Add the apples and carrots. Shake until well coated. Then chill them or freeze them. |
Carrot Filled Apple Ingredients: 1 large Apple 3/4 to 1 cup of Oats 1 Carrot Instructions: Hollow out the apple. Cut up carrot into small pieces and place in center of the apller. Fill excess space with oats. If you want you can drizzle molasses on the top. |
Apple Surprise Ingredients: One medium to large Apple Cooking Oats Molasses Chopped up Carrots Crushed bran flakes Instructions: Hollow out the apple with a peeler, scooping out as much of the insides as you can. Pour some oats in to it then add some molasses, repeating this until you have a centimeter to go. (Or you can mix the oats and molasses in a bowl first.) Make sure you stir the oats and molasses with a strong tool like a chop stick. Put some carrots on top and punch them down, squeezing a bit of molasses out the top and add the crushed bran flakes. Put it in a freezable bag and stick it in the freezer. Take it out when you're ready, and warm it up a bit. |
Cinnamon Soup Ingredients: 1 packet of Apple Cinnamon Quaker Oatmeal 2 Apples, sliced 2 handfuls of Cracklin Oat Bran Cereal 1/2 (one half) of a small jar of apple sauce 3 cups of Bran or the amount that you think suitable for your horse Add cinnamon and sugar if desired Instructions: Mix with hot water until you get a gooey soap. You can mix it right in a feed bucket. |
Peppermint Toss Ingredients: 1 cup Molasses 4 Peppermints 1 cup oats or oatmeal 1/2 (one half) cup chopped Carrots 1 Apple, sliced 4 Peppermints 1 tablespoon Sugar Instructions: Mix molasses, oats, carrots, and sugar in your horse's food bucket. Lay the apple slices and peppermints on top. |
Apple Layer Cake Ingredients: One Apple sliced into thin round slices Package of Oatmeal cookies Jar of Applesauce Instructions: Place two cookies on wax paper. Spread applesauce on each cookie. Place apple slice on one of the cookies and top with other cookie. make as many as you want. |
Carrot Oatmeal Cookies Ingredients: 1 can Applesauce 1 1/2 (one and one half) Quick Oats Oatmeal Cookies Carrots, shredded Instructions: Mix applesauce and oats together in a medium sized bowl. Place oatmeal cookies on your countertop in a row. Cover the cookies with the applesauce/oatmeal mix. Sprinkle shredded carrots on top, and refrigerate the cookies until used. |
Sherry's Stuffed Molasses Apples Ingredients: 2-3 Apples 1 cup Bran 1 Carrot, shredded 1/3 (one third) cup Molasses 1/2 (one half) cupe sweet feed 1 Green carrot top 1/2 (one half) cup cob grain or cracked corn Instructions: Core the apples, removing as much of the center as possible. In a large bowl, mix the carrot with the bran, molasses, sweet feed and cob grain. If necessary add more molasses. The mix should have a stiff consistency. Scoop the micture into the cored apples and garnish with carrot top. Serve in feed bucket. |

No Cook Snaps Ingredients: 4 cups Bran 4 cups Applesauce Instructions: Mix ingredients together. Batter should be dought. Roll out with a rolling pin and cut shapes with cookie cutters. Let dough dry and serve. |
Kickin Mix Ingredients: 1/2 cup Trix cereal 1/2 cup kix cereal 1 Carrot, diced Instructions: Mix ingredients in feed bucket and serve immediately. |
Horsey Burrito Ingredients: 1 Soft Burrito 1 Carrot, sliced lengthwise in four pieces Carrot green tops 1/2 cup Bran 1/2 cup Molasses Instructions: Lay a burrito out flat. Put carrots side by side right on top. Add a few carrot greens and set aside. In a bowl, mix bran and molasses together. Pout misture on top of carrots and roll burrito tightly. Wrap a green carrot top around burrito to tie it closed. |
Winter Warmer Ingredients: 1 scoop of Barley or Rolled Oats 1 Carrot, sliced 2 Apples, diced Molasses Water Instructions: Cook the barley/oats in water. Then soak prepared apples and carrots in molasses and water (for flavor). Wait for the oats to cool just enough for your horse to be able to eat it. Add apples and carrots, mix well. Drip molasses over top (it looks nicer). |
Hay Cube Spread Ingredients: 2 Carrots, diced 1 Apple, sliced 1/3 cup Honey or Molasses 1/3 cup Bran 1/4 cup Water Hay cubes Handful of Horse feed pellets Handful of Raisins Instructions: Place apples, honey (or molasses), bran and water in a blender. Add carrots slowly and blend until pureed. Mixture should be pasty, add more bran if necessary. Spread liberally onto each hay cube and top with one raisin and a sprinkle of pellets. |
Taffy Apples Ingredients: 2 Apples 1/4 cup Molasses 1/2 teaspoon Salt 1 cup of Uncooked Oats Instructions: Cut apples into quarters, removing core and seeds. Place in bowl and drizzle molasses over apples, using a rubber spatula to get all the molasses out of the measureing cup. Stir the apple pieces to coat evenly. Put the oats and saly into a large baggie and shake well. Place the molasses covered apple pieces into the baggie and shake well, until evenly coated with oats. Leave in baggie, tie with a twist tie and refrigerate until used. |
Birthday Cones Ingredients: Wafer Ice Cream Cones 1 Apple, Shredded 1 Carrot, shredded 1/2 cup Brown Sugar 1/2 cup Dark Corn Syrup 1 cup Bran Seedless red or green grapes Confectionery Sugar Instructions: Mix apple, carrot, brown sugar, and corn surup thoroughly. Add bran to make the mixture thick and paste like, adding more gran as needed. Using greaded ice cream scoop, scoop balls of mixture into wafer cones. To garnish top each with one grape, and sprinkle with confectionery sugar. Top with jelly beans if desired. |
Birthday Cake Ingredients: 4 cups of Sweet Feed or Oats 1 cup of Molasses or Honey 2 Carrots cut into sticks 1 Apple, sliced Instructions: Mix the honey and sweet feed or oats together in a big bowl. When fully mixed, place the mixture on a place and shape into the form of a birthday cake. Use the carrots as candles and the apple slices as decorations. Horses really enjoy this sticky but delicious treat. |
Crispy Coated Fruit Ingredients: 1 Apple 1 Carrot 1 cup Rice Crispies 1/2 cup Molasses or more 1/2 cup Brown Sugar Instructions: Quarter the apple and cut the carrot into 8 pieces. Mix rice crispies and brown sugar in a Rubbermaid bowl with lid. Roll fruit in molasses and then put in Rubbermaid bowl with the mixture. Shake bowl until fruit is covered with mixture. Medicine Treats Ingredients: 1 handful Grain 1 packer of Instant Oatmeal 1/2 cup Molasses 4 tablespoons Peanut Butter Instructions: Mix grain and oatmeal in a bowl. In another bowl mix medicine and peanut butter and then add half of the molasses. Mix the second bowl into the first bowl. If needed add more molasses. From into bite size balls. From Sally |
Snow Cone Carrots Ingredients: Molasses Large Carrots Oatmeal Instructions: Cut carrots into pieces about two to three inches long. mix molasses and oatmeal in a bowl large enough for the carrots to fit (one cup of molasses per cup of oatmeal). Oatmeal Deluxe Horse Treats Ingredients: 1 packet of Quaker Oatmeal (dry 1 handful of Sweet Feed 2 spoonfuls of Applesauce 1 spoonful Honey or Molasses 1 cup Cheerios 4 sugar Cubes a pinch of Brown Sugar 1/2 cup Water Instructions: You can make this right in the feed bucket. Mix the oatmeal with the water. Add sweet feed and applecuse. Mix together. Add the Cheerios, brown cugar and honey. Mix again, then place sugar cubes on top. Serves One horse.
