The Ambulances

The Ambulance first seen in the pilot at the pilot’s electrocution rescue is a 1969-1970 Cadillac Eldorando based unit. (This unit is also featured turning into Rampart in a few episodes in Season 1). "Mayfair" is actually a fictional name.

The keen eyed fan can see the decal with "Mayfair" on it in the electrocution rescue in the pilot. This was a type of ambulance that was typical of most ambulances at the time before specialised body ambulances were the norm.
The pilot also featured 1970 GMC and older Chevrolet ambulances with the trademark "growler" siren.
The Chevrolet ambulances used in Emergency were panel van and specialised body units. There were two model years used for these, as either is distinctive. One was a 1970 model year where the grille featured "Chevrolet" on a chrome strip and was based on a Chevrolet panel van. The later model year had the bow tie in the middle of a grid type grille that used a standard ambulance body aboard a 1 ton cab and chassis. This unit had a pair of "wigwag" blue lights set into the radiator skirt behind the grille.
The fan gets a few ride alongs in both the panel van (also featured in "Welcome to Santa Rosa County"), and the Chevrolet 1 ton unit.

Ford F-350 1 ton ambulances were a feature in many episodes and featured a standard ambulance body, and unique patterned red grille lights. The fan gets a few ride alongs in the ambulance and quite a few views inside the unit.

A few van type ambulances can be seen, most at the tunnel rescue in the pilot. These are mostly 1969-1971 Ford Econoline vans.
