| The St. Laurence/Queen of Peace Band has developed into one of the finest catholic high school bands in the Chicagoland Area. The band consists of the "Marching Gold," Competitive Marching Band (combined with the Br. Rice/ Mother McAuley Band), Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Band. The Competitive Marching Band is one of only two catholic high schools invited annually to the "State of Illinois Invitational Marching Band Championship." The Symphonic Band has placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd at the annual "State of the Art Catholic Band Competition" and were grand champions in 1997. St. Laurence will also be hosting the "State of the Art Catholic Band Competition" for the next 3 years. The band has won over 300 awards throughout its history and still continues to be successful. The band has perforned throughout the country at locations such as Disney World and Sea World in Orlando, Florida. Knotts Berry Farm and the Magic Kingdom Theme Park in Los Angeles and Disneyland in Anaheim. In Pheonix, Arizona, the band performed at the Cubs winter training camp in Mesa. The band has also performed in Ireland several times. |
