So much has been said about
Woodstock Music and Art Festival in 1969, I sometimes am at a loss for the
words. Yes I was there in 1969...much by accident. It wasn't really planned.
After spending the summer traveling around the United States starting from
my home town Washington DC about the beginning of June, I made it to San
Fran California. A month there and a run in with the cops was enough for me
so I traveled back to DC. I ran into an old friend Johnny McKibben that was
with me the year earlier in Ocean City Maryland and we decided to go back
and work the whole summer of 1969 at the beach. We both got a job there and
a room for only $8.00 each a night. One weekend I noticed that all the
hippies were gone for the weekend. That Monday I asked where they had been.
The Atlantic City Pop Festival, and to think I had missed it since it was
only about an hour up the coast. The next major Rock Festival was someplace
up north called Woodstock Music and Art Festival and it was said anyone who
was anyone in the music scene of 1969 was going to be there. Needless to say
this was one event I wasn't going to miss. I traveled back to Washington DC
the following week and began looking for a ride.....Much of the rest of this
story is related on the links provided above. Please enjoy my story and
never forget.... Love and Peace really is the answer. Your brother,
