THE CHOICE IS YOURS

Today you can have a wonderful life,
It’s your choice don’t you see,
You have been granted free will,
To do as you care,
But you do not control your destiny.

You see my kind friend,
I lived once like you,
And misery knocked on my door,
I opened it always, let it right in,
Not knowing what it had in store.

Then you kind people,
Showed me a way,
To live a new way of life,
No pats on my back,
You wanted me to live free,
Examples of wrong and what’s right.

You took me in,
With welcome arms,
Shared your love with me,
You explained my flaws,
Got honest and said,
I’d pay to be footloose and fancy free.

I did not like all that I heard,
But I chose not to return,
To the old way of life.
I’d left behind,
Hell….it was there that I burned.

So I swallowed some pride,
Looked deep inside,
You helped me see the real me,
I decided to change,
My life rearranged,
You helped me to truly be free.

The bonds of myself,
That kept me tied down,
You helped me cut one by one,
No matter how I tried to hold on,
The process had now begun.
