Paediatric First Aid - 2 Days | |||||||||||||||||||||
This course is essential for those delegates who look after younger children in a nursery, childminding setting, playgroup, etc., and is a requirement of OFSTED. It is also a requirement of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework, that Primary Schools have at least 2 Paediatric First Aiders on site at all times. This course can be undertaken on a stand-alone basis, or as an additional qualification to the four-day First Aid at Work course, as infants and children are not usually covered during this course. The qualified First Aider(s) will benefit from the support provided by this person. This qualification can also be used to provide evidence for those who are working towards an NVQ in Child Care and Education. Certificates are vaild for three years. |

The course covers the following subjects: Incident Management; including first aid kits and incident reports Control of Bleeding Burns and Scalds Hypothermia and Heat Exhaustion/Dehydration Sprains, Strains, Fractures and Dislocations Seizures; Febrile, Absence and Epileptic Shock Asthma Choking; Infant, Child and Adult Allergic Reactions Diabetic Emergencies Sickle Cell Anaemia Head Injuries Objects in the Eye, Ear and Nose Poisons, Bites and Stings Treatment of the Unconscious Casualty; Infant, Child and Adult Resuscitation; Infant, Child and Adult Sudden Serious Illnesses; including Mumps, Measles, Croup and Meningitis |
