Hi there! I am Steve, born 11/21/1975, and living in Rochester, NY, USA. I am a nice guy (or at least I LIKE to think so), a foreign-language geek and an aspiring writer. I like to travel (favorite cities are Paris, London, and so far, ANYWHERE in Canada) and I like to read, as well as learn for the sake of learning. I enjoy lots of things, like playing racquetball and cross-country skiing in the winter, and camping and rollerblading in the summer. When I travel, I like to hit the museums and take in a show if I can. I like a nice mix of high-brow culture and pop culture, if that makes sense. Musically, I am all over the map, liking things from house to pop to folk to jazz to even (gasp) some country here and there. Some of my favorite performers are Meatloaf, the Indigo Girls, Great Big Sea (this incredible Canadian group), Queen, Abba, Enya, Lorrena McKennit, Joanne Shanandoah, Leeanne Womack, Crystal Gayle, Ella Fitzgerald, and the B-52s. I also like soundtracks, such as Moulin Rouge (of course!), Amelie, the Last of the Mohicans, Somewhere in Time, Rent, Les Mis, and of course, Mamma Mia! I like many movies, and some favorites are Harold and Maude, the Shawshank Redemption, But I'm A Cheerleader, A Heart in Winter, Amelie, Strawberry and Chocolat, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Elizabeth, Titanic, and What's Eating Gilbert Grape? just to name a few of my favorites. I love to read, and have a few favorite books, namely To Kill a Mockingbird, Les Miserables, A Wrinkle in Time, the Pillars of the Earth, Man's Search for Meaning, Native Son, or anything by Maya Angelou, Madeleine L'Engle or Isabel Allende, just to name a few. I like to learn especially about spirituality and international things, and love poetry, particularly that of Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, Alfred Lord Tennyson or Tagore, just to name a few.
Some of my favorite shows are the Simpsons, Northern Exposure (the BEST) and the Kids in the Hall. I also LOVE britcoms, such as As You Being Served? Keeping Up Appearances, ABFAB (of course!!!), QAF, Monty Python Anything, and Black Adder.
At this time (summer of 2002) I am working on teaching certification, and hope to student teach in January 2003, landing a full-time job as an English or language teacher soon after that.
