El Salvador's earthquake, 2001

rubble By Steve Hide. I was working in El Salvador when the earthquake, of 7.6 in the Richter scale, struck at 11.30am on January 13. In the weeks that followed El Salvador suffered two more large quakes and hundreds of aftershocks. More than a thousand people are dead or missing. Up to 250,000 more are homeless.
The official UN links site for the earthquake is www.terremotoelsalvador.org.sv
