Steven John Carell was born on August 16, 1962 in Concord, Massachusetts to an Italian-American family.  He graduated from the University of Granville in Ohio, then took acting at Chicago's Second City troupe.  He got a small role in the feature film Curly Sue, and then began teaching improvisional comedy classes at the Second City Troupe, where he met Nancy Walls, who he later married in 1995.

Steve built and friendship with actor Dana Carvey and began writing scripts for "The Dana Carvey Show" and became a regular on the show in 1996 before it was cancelled.  Steve continued to search for jobs and landed the role of Yorgo Galfinkos in the 1997 TV series "Over the Top." but that was again cancelled after a year.

In 1999, Steve became a correspondent for "The Daily Show with John Stewart."  He quickly became a fan favorite over the years and 2002, he landed the role of Edgar Price in the TV seriers "Watching Ellie."  Although the show returned for a second season, it was cancelled in 2003.  Steve didn't give up, and still was very successful on "The Daily Show" and it landed him the supporting role of Evan Baxter in the 2003 Jim Carrey film
Bruce Almighty.  Steve stole the spotlight in some scenes and was becoming a hot commodity.

In 2004, he landed the supporting role of Brick Tamland in the Will Ferrell film
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.  Steve again stole the spotlight in the film with his famous quotes such as "I Love Lamp!" and "Loud Noises!"  Also in 2004, he got the supporting role of Walt Wagner in the film Melinda and Melinda, while also landing a minor role in the feature film Sleepover, and playing the role of Blevin in the TV series "Come to Papa," which ended after one season.

2005 was a great year for Steve, as he got the lead role as Michael Scott in the new TV series "The Office."  He also played the supporting role of Uncle Arthur in the film
Bewitched.  Then, produced and wrote the script for the comedy The 40-Year-Old Virgin, casting himself as the lead role of Andy Sitzler.  The movie ended up being one of the biggest comedies of the year, and Steve had established himself as one of the funniest actors in America.

With Steve's recent success, he finally had to leave "The Daily Show" as he was tied up with "The Office" returning for a second season.  In 2006, he was also cast to join Bruce Willis and Gary Shandling in the ensamble cast of
Over the Hedge, where he voiced Hammy, the crazy squirrel.  He was also cast to join Gary Kinnear and Toni Collette in the ensamble cast of Little Miss Sunshine where he played Uncle Frank.  It was again praised as one of the biggest comedies of the year.

Steve's success is continuing, with "The Office" in it's third season, Steve is also slated to reprise his role of Evan Baxter, now as the lead role in the sequel,
Evan Almighty.  Other projects include Dan in Real Life, Get Smart, and the animated movie, Horton Hears a Who!
