The Fairchild Young Women’s Academy, located in a secluded, gated, 600 acre
preserve in Leominster, Massachusetts, was founded by Lady Prudence Fairchild in 1898. Its purpose is to provide whole-life
education and training to girls ages 14-19 whose families desire them to enter society
as proper young women. The Fairchild Way , the driving theme of the entire institution,
is grounded in three basic essential principals:
Obedience
Respect
Discipline
These principals are applied with strict rigor to the academics, spirituality, health, and social growth of each Fairchild girl.
The Fairchild Way underscores the importance of an education guided by reverence
for authority and based on a respect for learning and order. In everything that we do,
the Fairchild Academy is committed to fostering academic excellence and to producing
proper young ladies. Our girls follow in the steps of students who have been trained
in this manner for centuries.
We are committed to a curriculum steeped in the classics that helps Fairchild girls
to develop a common background of knowledge. The instruction in classical languages,
literature and history provides our young ladies with an excellent opportunity to learn
fundamental truths, beliefs and texts that have challenged every generation since the
ancient world. As our young women study a classical language and ancient history,
they learn to think and write critically and to appreciate the lessons of the past. Our
challenging curriculum is rich in mathematics and science and includes a signature
Humanities program that students enter in their Fourth Form year. Our rigorous
personal fitness program instills devotions to personal health and appearance.
The adherence to tried and true “old fashioned” training methods does not stop at
academics - the Fairchild Way is doctrine in every facet of our girls’ lives.
Fairchild girls are taught to be courteous, respectful, diligent, obedient to authority, and to always do their best.
They are also taught that there are consequences for letting down their school,
classmates, families, and selves. Fairchild is renowned for its remarkably
effective disciplinary techniques strictly enforced through corporal
punishment administered to the bare bottoms of our girls for their personal betterment.
