CARL BRASHEAR

This is one of my own votes. If you haven't seen the movie "Men of Honor", please do. He not only overcame extreme racism in the U.S. Navy of the late '40's and early '50's to become the first black master diver, but he also lost his leg and STILL made it to his lifelong goal. I'm not one of those people to think all black people who achieve something deserve an extra special pat on the back just because of their skin color, but this man's story truly is inspiring because it took massive balls to go through what he did and not let losing his leg in the mean time stop him. His story will make you think twice before calling in sick to work because of a little runny nose or sore throat.
