Martin Kuhn
was riding horses before birth. His mother, Alice Martin,
taught him
dressage early.
Kuhn has won
numerous riding awards both on his old mount
Star Sir Marhalt
(Second and Third Levels) and his 6-yr-old mount
EA Henry,
currently at First and Second Levels.
In January
2002, Kuhn acquired Romulus a 16-yr-old Oldenburg. Trained
by Gerhard
Politz, Kuhn and Romulus have quickly become a well
unified pair.
At their first international competition they won the gold medal
with Young
Rider Team Member Lindsay Koffler of Kentucky. Kuhn ended
the Coupé
des Ameriques (Cup of the Americas) competition in Blainville,
Quebec with
the individual bronze. The highlight of the competion was
the winning
of the musical freestyle competition.
Kuhn and Romulus
ended 5th overall at the 2002 North American Young
Riders Competion,
at Tempel Farms, and contributed to the Region 2
Gold Team
Medal .
Kuhn has studied
extensively under Pamela Fitzwilliams, the late
Hubert Rohrer.
His recent continuing education has put him under the
tuitilage
of Col. Christian Carde, Walter Zettl, and Conrad Schumacher.
He is currently
studying under Gerhard Politz as well as continuous study
with Alice
Martin.
Kuhn, having
completed high school at Calvary Academy, Springfield in 2000,
is
currently
enrolled at Illnois College and
continues his responsibilities
both at
StarWest and
as owner/operator of Kuhn
Ridge Farms, a grain and Angus farm.
