Starling is Ottawa's most talented rock band, which currently consists of Ian LeFeuvre (lead vocals and guitar), Danny Michel (second guitar and backup vocals), Peter von Althen (drums and backup vocals), and Maury LaFoy (who joined in 1999 as bassist). Jon Reilley-Roe, along with Ian and Peter, was one of Starling's founding members -- he played bass and sang backup until August 1998 and can now be found from time to time taking the stage as a solo act. Ian and Danny write Starling's music and lyrics, creating super-catchy power-pop songs. Put on one of their CDs and let Ian's distinctive voice swirl around your head until you're forced to sing right along with him.

There's another side to the Starling trio. When Ian and Danny swap guitars and Ian turns down the volume on his mic, Starling becomes Danny Michel and The Wedding Band. A completely seperate act, Ian and Peter back Danny for his own, more mellow material.

I first saw Starling when I was an audience member at a taping of  The Tom Green Show  in January '98, and I've been hooked ever since.
