"Moffatts Breaking up?"

Dave said to be going solo to Oz for nine-month sojourn

Although its next to impossible for a band of brothers to "Break-up" (cause point the Jacksons) The Moffatts are best on an extended hiatus and shy the youngest triplet, keyboard player Dave Moffatt.

The group played its last show in London. Ont., late last month before the departure of Dave, who now heads for what is said to be a nine-month sojourn to Austrailia.

Father Frank told the London Sun that the brothers had to "figure some stuff out." Dave's 17-year old brothers CLint and Bob will apparently be writing a new album with 18-year old scott in his absence but in a leisurely fashion.

Clint had told the paper in an interview a few days earlier that the band was evolving into a flat-out rock ensemble and hinted that a name change was under consideration.

The Vancouver Island-born quartets last album "submodalities, with production from Bob Rock was leaning in that direction, although sales were half of that of 1997's Chapter 1, a pop album that followed the kids' country phase.

According to a spokesperson at Capital Records in LA, the band is still signed to that label but the company has no idea as to the status of a future album. In an earlier interview however, the rep had pointed out that it will be easier to market tham as a rock group when they are old enough to cater to the bar crowd so its unlikely they're too worried.
