Our FLOWER FESTIVAL

The Flower Festival held at St. Mary's the Virgin Church, Woodstock - 4 September 2004 to celebrate their 145th year birthday.
The flowers were arranged by members of St. Mary's themself. The whole flower festival was devised, arranged and co-ordinated by the co-organist, Desiree Van Leeve. Also taking part was the owners of Ambrose Florist, Brian Willoughby and Gregory Edwards (also members of St. Mary's Parish).

"I am thirsty": said Jesus. A bowl was there full of cheap wine, and a sponge was soaked in the wine, put on a stalk of hyssop, and lifted to his lips. Jesus drank the wine and said, "It is finished!"

CHRIST OUR LIGHT- The Resurrection
MATTHEW 28: 5-6
The angel spoke to the woman "You must not be afraid, I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has been raised, just as he said."

"Create a pure heart in me, O God, and put a new and loyal spirit in me."

Then he led them out of the city as far as Bethany, where he raised his hands and blessed them. As he was blessing them, he departed from them and was taken into heaven."

It was late that Sunday evening, and the disciples were gathered together behind locked doors, because they were afraid of the jewish authorities ...
Jesus said to them "Peace be with you. As the Father sent me, so I send you." Then he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit.
If you forgive the peoples' sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven."

"But the time is coming and is already here, when by the power of God's Spirit people will worship the Father as he really is, offering him the true worship that he wants."

NEW BIRTH

While Peter was still speaking, the Holy Spirit came down on all who were listening to his message.
The Jewish believers who had come from Joppa with Peter were amazed that God had poured out his gift of the Holy Spirit on the Gentiles also .... Peter spoke up: "These people have received the Holy Spirit, just as we also did. Can anyone, then, stop them from being baptised with water?"

THE OLD AND THE NEW LIFE (in Christ)
COLOSSIANS 3 : 8 -10
"But now you must get rid of all these things: anger, passion and hateful feelings. No insults or obscene talk must ever come from your lips. Do not lie to one another, for you have taken off the old self with its habits and have put on the new self."

BAPTISM

"I baptise you with water to show that you have repented, but the one who will come after me will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and Fire.
He is much greater than I am; and I am not good enough even to carry his sandals."

While they were eating, Jesus took a piece of bread, gave a prayer of thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples. "Take and eat it, this is my body".
Then he took a cup, gave thanks to God, and gave it to them. "Drink it, all of you, this is my blood, which seals God's covenant, my blood poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins."
